How to use Shampoo Bars

Step-by-step guide for using Shampoo Bars

We get a lot of questions about how to use our solid Shampoo Bars from new customers. We understand switching from bottled liquid shampoo to something as different as a solid Shampoo Bar can take a bit of getting used to.

Thankfully, using a Shampoo Bar is very easy and straight forward as you will see in the step-by-step instructions below. Also, you will be amazed at how luxuriously decadent the lather is, and how fabulous your hair will feel once it dries.

The natural plant oils in our Shampoo Bars, especially the Castor Oil, produce a rich, dense, creamy moisturising lather which gently yet effectively cleanses, nourishes and moisturises, leaving your hair clean, soft and shiny.

Step-by-step Instructions

01.

Wet Hair

Thoroughly wet your hair from root to tip with warm water.

02.

Application

With the shampoo bar in one hand, moisten it then simply apply it directly to your head, starting at your scalp near your forehead. Work the bar in a circular motion back towards the base of your neck to create a gentle lather. Swipe the bar along the sides of your head, by your ears, to apply the shampoo evenly. For longer hair, you may want to lift your hair off your neck and apply the bar to the back of your head using small circular motions, getting enough product on the underside of your hair.

03.

Lather Up

Put the Shampoo Bar down on a soap dish with drainage and, using your fingers, work the lather through the roots of your hair with a massaging motion. Run your hands down the length of your hair to cleanse from your scalp to the tips.
NOTE: Like soap the shampoo lather can sting if it gets in the eyes so tilt your head backwards.

04.

Rinse Shampoo

Ensure you rinse your hair well under running water until all of the shampoo lather is removed.

What about Conditioner?

Our natural Shampoo Bars are very different to a commercial shampoo as they do not contain detergents and are designed to NOT strip the hair of it’s natural oils. It may take a few washes for your hair to adjust but most people find they do not require conditioner when using our Shampoo Bars.

However, if you feel you need an extra touch of softness, we highly recommend an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse once or twice a week.

An ACV Rinse is very simple to make. Mix a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with warm water (you can add a drop or two of Essential Oil for scent – we recommend Rosemary). After shampooing, pour the mixture over your hair evenly, working into your scalp. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. Rinse it out.

Apple Cider Vinegar will help restore the natural pH level of your hair, making it soft, smooth and easy to style.

Remember everybody has their own set of unique requirements so we would recommend you experiment with both the type of natural Shampoo Bar (ask us about sampler packs) and the technique on how to use it, to find what works best for you.
